Flood disaster: Delta to dredge three rivers



WORRIED by the increasing flood disaster in Asaba, the Delta State Government said it would dredge Anwai, Iyiabi and Amilimocha rivers to accommodate flood water from the storm drainage that is being constructed.
The state Commissioner for Works, Chief James Angoye, who stated this while briefing newsmen in Asaba said Governor Okowa’s  administration was bent to build roads that would stand taste of time.
He appealed to indigenes of Asaba Ase who protested on Saturday not to loose hope, stressing that the government was aware of their plight. He stated that government had not demobilized from its various construction sites despite the dams and high level of water in coastal areas the people had protested against the alleged abandonment of the seven kilometer Abani-Asaba Ase road project.
He assured that the construction of concrete drains were steadily going on at the various road projects across the state, stressing that most of the projects that were slowed down due to  rains would be revive
His words, ‘we are not relenting, we are not slowing down civil works in the projects.As soon as the rains are over, there would be massive construction of road projects across  the state’.
