Ekweremmadu attack: Enough is enough – S’East govs
No retreat, no surrender – IPoB
GOVERNORS of the five states in South-East geopolitical zone has read the riot act to leader of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and members of the organisation to desist from attacking any other politician from the zone, whether in Nigeria or abroad, after their attack on Senator Ike Ekweremmadu on Saturday, in Nuremberg, Germany, where he was invited to the annual new yam festival and convention of Ndigbo.
Chairman of South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, gave the warning yesterday, while threatening to ensure Kanu’s repatriation to Nigeria should any governor be attacked by IPoB elements.
The warning is coming on the heels of threats by Kanu that South-East governors and selected Igbo politicians “will receive the Ekweremadu treatment any time they are seen in public abroad.”
According to Umahi, the warning covers anyone from the zone also.
“We wish to warn that should any Southeast person be attacked anywhere in the world, we shall by all means bring Kanu back to Nigeria to face the wrath of our people,” he said.
Meanwhile, IPOB renewed its call on political office holders of Igbo extraction to turn new leaf or get ready to be meted with more attacks.
IPoB Head of Directorate of State, Chika Edoziem, stated this in a press release issued in Awka, yesterday.
