MEMBER, representing Nnewi North Constituency at the 7th Assembly of Anambra State, Nonso Peter Okafor, has described youth as strong pillars of the society.
The lawmaker, who spoke with reporters in an interview at the International Youth Day celebration held at Sir Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, said,“if the youth are being empowered, we will have a better society.”
Describing the state government’s effort on various sectors, the legislator emphasised that Obiano led administration has been so remarkable which is clearly reflected in his cabinet where the youth are well represented.
In the area of economic empowerment, Okafor stated, “the state government has enough initiatives for young minds. The state government is youth friendly, and has done a whole lot in improving the lives of the youth. When you build the youth, you build the nation.
Advising the youth, Nnewi North representative urged them to desist from bad company and other vices. “Young people should focus their energy on things that will inspire them and will benefit the society. They should stay away from cultism which has become one of the biggest threats in the society. The youth should re-direct their energies on things that will benefit them and generations to come.
On his plans for the Nnewi youth specifically and Anambra youth as a whole, Okafor said that he would continue to add his voice as a legislator on any topic or project that will benefit the youth. “I am very passionate about youth’s development and empowerment programme. My primary constituency is the youth”
