Oyo Assembly screens commissioner nominees today

THE screening of commissioner nominees in Oyo Sate commences today on the floor of the State House of Assembly.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin made this known during plenary on Monday.

Ogundoyin said the assembly would also screen members and chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB alongside the commissioner nominees.

The exercise is sequel to the list of would-be commissioners forwarded for confirmation to the Assembly by Governor Seyi Makinde on July 24.

The Assembly also on Mondaym, continued the process of reconstituting ministries to be manned by the commissioners with the passing into law of the creation of Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ministry of Establishment and Training.

Following a motion by  Olawumi Oladeji of Ogbomoso North Constituency and  Sanjo Adedoyin of Ogbomoso North, the Assembly has urged the state government to urgently recruit qualified teachers into secondary schools.

The Assembly premised the imperativeness of recruiting qualified teachers due to their obvious dearth in schools across the state.
