- National Light pays condolence to Air Peace boss too
GOVERNOR Willie Obiano and his wife, Chief Ebelechukwu Obiano, last week, joined the family of Chief Allen Onyema of Mbosi, in Ihiala Council Area, to play host to topmost echelon of the Nigerian society.
Chief Allen Onyema, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Airline, attracted people to pay last respect to his late father, Chief Michael Onyema.
It was a busy day for the first family of Anambra State, who visibly participated in making the august visitors comfortable and well secured.
The endless list of dignitaries at the rites of passage for the late Pa Michael Onyema include Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, his Edo State counterpart, Mr Godwin Obaseki, former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, Chief of Staff to Anambra State Governor, Mr. Primus Odili, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, and a host of party members across political divides, ministers, friends and well wishers.
Speaking on behalf of other governors present, Governor Obiano commiserated with the family, welcomed guests to Anambra, and asked them to enjoy Anambra, being the safest state in the country.
Earlier, a requiem mass, officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi, Most Rev Hilliary Odili-Okeke, acompanied by other bishops and members of the clergy, was held in honour of the deceased Pa Onyema, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mbosi.
In a homily, Bishop Matthew Kukah from Sokoto State, lamented that Nigeria has become extraordinarily violent over the past few years but expressed optimism of a better future and called for more commitment and dedication to a new Nigeria.
Bishop Kukah, who beckoned on Onyema family to hold and cherish their father’s legacies, stressed that Nigeria’s greatness lies in her diversity and called on Nigerians to find aggregate of values
around which the nation will revolve, no matter the turbulence.
Responding on behalf of the family, Chief Allen Onyema appreciated people for identifying with them and called for unity and oneness in Nigeria, irrespective of religion or tribe.
Also, a team of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Cooperation, Publishers of National Light group of newspapers , led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, paid condolenc visit to the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace , Allen Onyema.
Nnabuife, who hails from Ubuluisiuzo in Ihiala Council Area , encouraged the bereaved to take solace in the lord, noting that their father lived a life of faith with good legacies. He further described the deceased as a peace maker and hardworking man, who touched many lives during his stay on earth.
His first Son, Allen Onyema, described his father as a principled man, kind, firm in his belief, a rare gem, open minded, somebody who never succumbed to sentiments and always transparent in dealing with other people.
His second son, Ekene Onyema, said his father died a happy and fulfilled man.
His daughters, Mrs Tina Amuche Ukonze (Ada onyebuchi) ( lolo Ifenwanne), Mrs Nonye Onyenekwuru, Mrs Nkechi Ezewusi (Lolo Nmadiya), Mrs Juliet Udoka Ozor, Mrs Amaka Lilian Anene, Mrs Gina Omeogo Adegoke, Mrs Peggy Anuli Ejiogu, described him as a strong man, motivator, honest, brave, intelligent, great disciplinarian, leader of substance and a man of incorruptible character.
