FEDERAL government has thrown its weight behind other national and international bodies to endorse Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano’s primary healthcare policy templates.
Executive Director of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, made the endorsement while speaking as leader of the agency’s delegation which called on Gov. Obiano at Government House, Awka as activities rounding off the team’s inspection tour of primary healthcare centres in Anambra State.
Commending the state government as a peerless partner of federal government in its primary healthcare development agenda, Shuaib disclosed that his team’s assessment of facilities in the state makes Anambra’s health intervention service second to none throughout Nigeria, adding that it has delivered more results on investment.
According to him, Anambra stands far ahead of other states particularly in the area of immunisation and disease tracking.
Continuing in his remarks, Shuaib also lauded Gov. Obiano for revamping 63 primary health centres in Anambra state, recommending similar refurbishments to boost remaining ones.
Receiving the delegation, Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, who represented Gov. Obiano, extolled the agency as deserving arrowhead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s healthcare programmes, promising Anambra’s commitment to maintaining its leading position in healthcare delivery.
Dr. Okeke also used the occasion to solicit more assistance from federal government to ensure that inadequate funding do not retard more developments.
