Anambra Assembly resumes plenary, inaugurates 29 standing committees

ANAMBRA State House of Assembly before going on recess instituted a five man select committee Chaired by the speaker.
The committee, according to the standing order were charged to go and look at various committees and come up with names of members who are going to chair those committees and its members based on their qualification, experience and skills.
The committee was also charged with the responsibility of coming up with legislative agenda of the 7th assembly.
Speaker, Anambra State House of  Assembly, at plenary brought to the notice of the lawmakers saying,”I am happy to announce that the committee sat a couple of times during the brake and we are happy to present the report” The speaker however outlined the various committees of the 7th Anambra State House of Assembly alongside the chairmen and deputy chairmen to include;
Finance and Appropriation Committee – Chairman, Obinna Chris Emeneka, deputy chairman, Nonso Okafor.
Trade, Commerce and Industry- Chairman Charles Chinedu Obima, deputy chairman, Douglas Egbuna.
Environment- Chairman Edward Ibuzo, deputy chairman, Lawrence Ezeudu.
Police , Security and Boundary Matters- Chairman, Onyebuchi Offor, deputy chairman, John Nwaokoye.
Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters- Chairman, Pete Ibida, deputy chairman, Emeka Aforka.
Screening and Election Matters Committee- Chairman, Paschal Agbodike, deputy chairman, TimIfedioramma.
Committee on House Services-Chairman Innocent Uzoma Eli,, deputy chairman, Sunny Ozobialu.
Social Devlopment, Gender and Children Affairs- Chairman, Nonso Okafor, deputy chairman, BeverlyNkemdiche.
Tenders Board and Procurement- Chairman,  Chudi Ezewunne, deputy chairman, Johnbosco Obi.
Committee on Youth Empowerment, Creative Industry and Sport-. Chairman, Noble Igwe, deputy chairman, Carter Nnamdi Umeh
 
Public Accounts Committee- Chairman,  Somto Udeze, deputy chairman, Pete Ibida.
Information and Communications Committee- Chairman Okechukwu Okoye, deputy chairman, Innocent Uzoma Eli Culture,Tourism and Diaspora Matters -Chairman Emmanuel Nwafor, deputy chairman, Ebele Ejiofor .
Tertiary Education- Chairman, Beverly Nkemdiche, deputy chairman, Okechukwu Okoye .
Basic Education Committee- Chairman Ejike Okechukwu,, deputy chairman,Onyebuchi Offor.
Judiciary ad Justice Committee- Chairman Douglas Egbuna, deputy chairman, Chidi Udemadu

Committee on Agriculture- Chairman, John Nwokoye ,deputy chairman, Patrick Udeoba .
Committee on Housing- Chairman Lawrence Ezeudu, deputy chairman, Sunny Ozobialu.
Transport Committee- Chairman, Patrick Udeoba, deputy chairman,  Chukwuma Okoye
Committee on Internally Generated Revenue- Chairman Chukwuma Okoye, deputy chairman, Nonso Okafor.
Public Utilities Committee- Chairman Chidi Udemadu, deputy chairman, Noble Igwe.
Committee on Lands, Survey and Town Planning- Chairman Ifeanyi Chiekwu ,deputy chairman, Charles Obima.
Committee on Works- Chairman, Tim Ifedioramma, deputy chairman, Emmanuel Nwafor.
Sustainable Development Goals, Economic Planning and Donor Agencies Committee- Chairman, Ebele Ejiofor, deputy chairman, Sunny Ozobialu.
Committee on Health- Chairman, Carter Nnamdi Umeh, deputy chairman,G. Okafor, deputy chairman Emeka Aforka.
Pilgrimage, Ethics and Privileges Committee- Chairman Sunny Ozobialu, deputy chairman Innocent Uzoma Eli .
Committee on Civil Society Organizations, Establishments and Labour Matter-, Chairman  JohnBosco Obi, deputy chairman, Noble Igwe .
These names as submitted by the select committee were advised by the Speaker to follow the rules number 17 ( page 103 ) of the standing order of the Anambra State House of Assembly which stipulates the rules of committee meetings.
In his words “I charge the chairmen of the different committees to please as a matter of urgency, arrange the meetings of their various committees, and possibly start familiarization to the ministries, departments and agencies.
We should also realize that the constitution of the Federal rRpublic of Nigeria, section 128 gives lawmakers the right to oversight the executive. It is in the interest of these honorable house that these various committees will work effectively and judiciously to make sure that we fulfill the detects of the 1999 constitution as amended”.
While congratulating the Chairmen and their deputies and their members, Okafor prayed that the committees will leave up to expectations for the betterment of the state and Ndi Anambra in general.
