THE new campaign by the state government to foster environmental cleanliness and general hygiene in major cities and towns of Anambra has been taken to Nnewi, Nnewi-North Local Government Area.
The campaign, which is going on under the aegis of Dobe Anambra Ocha is also meant to spread into rural areas with an overall aim of consolidating on the gains recorded by Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA), has ndi Anambra as its primary targets in inculcating environmental standard practices.
Speaking while launching the campaign at the commercial city, Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Obi Nwankwo stated that the programme had ben retooled to succeed where others failed, adding that his team which comprised staff of his ministry, Officers of Operation OCHA Brigade and Anambra Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA),
among others had earlier ported at Afor Nawfia, Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu, Oye-Agu Abagana all in Njikoka L. G. A before making brief stops at Eziowelle, Abatete Roundabout in Idemili North L. G. A and Nnobi in Idemili South L. G. A after the campaign was flagged off at Awka last week.
Areas visited by the team include Nnewi Roundabout by First Bank through Bank Road, from where they called at Nwanyi Imo Park by Motor and Motorcycle Parts markets, building materials, Eke Amaobi and Oye-Agbo Nnewichi.
According to him, there is adequate provision for prosecution of those who may ignore the team’s awareness and sensitisation campaign, explaining that the campaign will be taken to homes, offices, schools and markets in Anambra.
