HARRY Maguire has told Leicester City he wants to leave after Manchester United’s £70 million offer was rejected, according to reports. The 26-year-old is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target to reinforce his defensive options at Old Trafford.
But Leicester are holding out for a £90m transfer fee and are in a strong negotiating position as Maguire signed a five-year contract extension last September. United had an improved offer of £70m turned down by Leicester earlier this week.
But according to The Sun, Maguire has made it clear to Leicester’s hierarchy that he wants to complete a move away before the end of the transfer window.
Manchester City are also interested in Maguire and the report claims the England international would prefer a move to the Premier League champions.
Arsenal have also expressed their interest in Maguire but their £45m transfer budget rules them out of the running.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are focused on completing their third deal after completing the signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka last month. A new central midfielder is also wanted with Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff and Spain Under-21 star Dani Olmo both target.
