IMO State House of Assembly yesterday, passed a motion urging security agencies in the state to urgently dispatch Soldiers, Policemen and Civil Defence to Oguta Local Government Area particularly, to stop herdsmen menace in the area.
The member representing Oguta State Constituency. Frank Ugboma who sponsored the motion described as invasion of Oguta communities by the killer Fulani Herdsmen as worrisome.
Ugboma decried such abuse of rights of Oguta people to free movement by the marauding Herdsmen, stressing that the notorious herders are meting terror on the law abiding people of Oguta Local Government Area.
He further explained that the disturbances involves areas like Eziorsu, Izombe, Ejemekwuru and Agwa communities where they killed, maimed, destroyed farm lands and other acts of brigandage.
He called on the assembly to urge the brigade commander at Obinze and the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Ladodo to dispatch without delay Army and Police to rescue the people and possibly bring the situation under control to avert reprisal or attack which may plunge the entire state into anarchy.
