Tinubu set to kick-off 2023 bid

THERE are strong pointers that National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, is oiling his political machinery to ensure that his alleged intention to contest the 2023 presidential election will not run into any hitches.
This hint was dropped by Former Organising Secretary of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mutiu Kunle Okunola, at a press conference yesterday.
According to him, his defection from PDP was part of his commitment to spearheading Tinubu’s presidency bid, adding that his ouster from PDP spells doom for the main opposition party.
“PDP is now in the cooler. There is only one party in Lagos State now, because I have joined APC to give Tinubu the support he needs to contest the 2023 presidency. So I decamped not for any other thing but because of Tinubu so that I can put my strength to make the 2023 project for Tinubu a reality. I believe it is only Tinubu that has the capacity in the South-West to rule the country,” he said.
Okunola further stated that Tinubu has done his best for Nigeria and should be elected as president in 2023, adding that although Tinubu has not made his intention public, he would embark on a campaign tagged ‘Tinubu-2023’ to drum up support for the former governor of Lagos State.
It will be recalled that the issue of which bloc has been zoned to APC presidential ticket for 2023 general election nearly generated a conflict between South-East and South-West in the last election, but the party has not come out with its final decision on the matter.
