Body takes anti-drug crusade to schools

PEER pressure amongst other factors according to research and investigations is responsible for the alarming rise of drug abuse among teenagers and young adults. The rate at which addiction arises is now a cause to be worried about.
With the rate of increased recorded cases in Anambra state, Dear Oma Foundation has commenced in earnest its tour in public schools in Anambra state.
President, Dear Oma Global Foundation, Ukoma Ezeokoye while speaking to journalists in its tour at Pioneer secondary school Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state said the tour is designed to promote healthy living with the hashtag #CHOOSELIFE crusading against the abuse of substance.
Advising the student Ezeokoye urged them to shun bad friends which has the potential to mar their life and future.
On the drive motivating the initiative, she said the movement started on her return from the Netherlands after a Journalism training course on Media campaign for development and social change by the radio Netherlands training center in February 2019.
Continuing, The On Air Personality (OAP) at Omega FM said “Her project assignment is to reduce the rate and possible in nearest future put a stop to the degree drug is being abused by young adults and teens in Anambra state which in turn kills or mar them.
Also speaking at the tour, social media journalist, George Natural Onourah said the movement will hold in secondary schools in Aguata LGA and will be extended to Orumba North and South and to other LGA in the state.
Also speaking, Educationist, Kingsley Gilbert said the tour which is aimed at crusading against dangers of drug abuse and help drug addicts fight it, persuades adults and teens who are abusing substance to stop, achieve social and behavioural change in young adults and teens
The tour will be held in 250 schools between June and July every Tuesday’s, Thursdays and Fridays.
