NIGERIA Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council has congratulated the newly elected Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Uche Okafor on his unanimous election as the Speaker of the 7th Anambra State House of Assembly.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Sir Emmanuel Ifesinachi and the Secretary, Emma Udeagha, the Council noted that Uche Okafor’s unanimous election by his colleagues is a confidence vote on his competence and unimpeachable track record of performance as a member of the 6th Assembly.
The council also congratulated Dr. Paschal Agbodike, the newly elected Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and other elected principal officers of the Assembly.
According to the release, the state council commended the entire members of the state House of the Assembly and noted that perhaps for the first time all the new officers were elected under a very peaceful and consensual atmosphere in keeping with the Anambra Spirit.
“Although the NUJ as an Institutional partner is expected to hold the elected officers accountable, the council as stakeholders in the Anambra project will work with the present Anambra State House of Assembly under Uche Okafor in order to guarantee effective checks and balances and actualise the overall development of Anambra State.”
“The council will build a robust partnership with Uche Okafor led leadership of the House of Assembly towards the advancement of the value driven partnership of the council with the Assembly.”
