OYO State House of Assembly has asked the Commissioner for Works, Wasiu Dauda to reappear before it on the 16th of May, following his refusal to honor the invitation of the House, to explain the indiscriminate parking of vehicles especially commercial vehicles in some parts of the state.
The lawmakers gave the directive after the Permanent secretary in the ministry who represented the commissioner said Mr. Dauda could not appear because of reasons beyond his control.
In an interview, Chairman, House committee on information and member representing Akinyele constituency 1, Mr Joshua Oyebamiji said the house unanimously agreed that the excuse giving by the commissioner is not welcomed.
The House also received a correspondence from lawmakers in Irepo local government area. stating their resolve to withdraw their action to indefinitely suspend the Chairman and his Vice, after prompt intervention by traditional rulers in the area.
In another development, the House committee on environment, reported to the house its findings on investigation on the alleged dangers, posed by the siting of a filling station at “Save and serve” Bus stop, Eleyele Ologuneru road, Ibadan.
Presenting the report, co-chairman of the committee, member representing Oluyole, Muideen Wahab said the filling station was duly approved by the Police, Ministries of Lands, Urban and planning development, as well as the Oyo State Fire Service.
Speaker of the House, Olagunju Ojo said since the filling station got the necessary approval, it was fit to continue operations.
