VICTIMS of the accident which occurred at Umuchu in Aguata Local Government recently, caused when by an articulated lorry allegedly belonging to Dangote Group, have been compensated.
They victims or their relations were given cheques by an insurance company engaged for the compensation.
Receiving the victims and their family members as well as the medical and insurance teams in his office, Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke expressed sympathy over the level of destruction suffered in the accident.
Dr. Okeke also commended those who lost for their patience and appreciated the insurance company for coming forth with payments, stating that Anambra State as one of Dangote’s biggest customers deserves more presence of the conglomerate.
Speaking to National Light, Special Adviser to Gov. Obiano on Medical Supplies and Facilities, Vincent Okpala, said the sad event tells a story of pain, responsibility and the unpredictability of life.
“We had an incident where a trailer loaded with cement belonging to the Dangote group ran into a set of lock up stores at Afor Igbughubu Umuchu, we had multiple injuries and loss of lives. We grieved and mourned, state government came into action, we met with the Dangote group and they responded in an amazing manner,” Okpala narrated.
