Barca to offload eight players

BARCELONA are willing to cut ties with at least eight players this summer as they look to oversee a huge squad overhaul following a disappointing campaign.
Despite leading Barca to the La Liga title, Ernersto Valverde’s side suffered Champions League heartbreak in the semi-finals against Liverpool.
They held a comfortable 3-0 lead going into the second leg at Anfield but the Reds mounted an historic comeback, sealing a stunning 4-0 victory to book their place in the final.
The Spanish giants were also beaten in the Copa del Rey final by Valencia last month – a defeat that almost cost manager Valverde his job.
It has now been claimed that a total of 11 players have been deemed surplus to requirements and the club have reportedly made it clear they will have to seek pastures new.
Thomas Vermaelen, Jeison Murillo and Kevin-Prince Boateng are all out of contract at the Nou Camp this summer and will be leaving for a fresh start. And Spanish daily Marca has listed another eight players who will be sold by the club this summer, for the right price.
Those out-of-favour players Jasper Cillessen, Nelson Semedo, Samuel Umtiti, Ivan Rakitic, Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez, Malcom and Philippe Coutinho.
The club are aware that some of these players may be harder to move on than others though, with Umtiti and Rakitic both facing uncertain futures at the Nou Camp.
Rakitic is wanted by Manchester United and while Valverde wants to keep hold of the Croatian, club chiefs are willing to part ways with the midfielder.
Gomes and Suarez, who had Premier League loan spells at Everton and Arsenal last season, are yet to have their long-term futures cleared up by the club.
And that’s the case for Cillessen and Coutinho as well, though the club will listen to potential suitors should offers arrive.
