IT WAS all joy for Ichie Emma Ikedimma, a retired deputy director in Anambra State Ministry of Education, recently, as he received an award for excellent character from a group in Umunobe village, Ogbunka, Orumba South LGA.
The group, known as Umunobe Peoples Assembly, also honoured a former Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal in Anambra State, Engr. Frank Offor and MrIfoegbunam, among others with different categories of awards.
According to the Chairman of the group, Mr Patrick Mara and Secretary, Revd. Hyacinth Onwuaso, the award was given to Ichie Ikedimma in appreciation of his numerous contributions to the development of the town, especially for silently given scholarships to some children in the community.
Ichie Ikedimma is the chairman, Ogbunka Education Committee and has served as secretary to the reconciliation committee between two Ogunka red cap chiefs and secretary of Peace Panel in Umunobe, among others.
Speaking to National Light after receiving the award, the visibly happy Ichie Ikedimma, who was flanked by his wife, family members and well wishers said the award would spur him to do more for the community, even as he thanked the organisers for critically picking the award recipients whom he noted have been helping the community grow silently.
He urged all to try to contribute in serving humanity in their various endeavours as it adds a lot of meaning to human life.
