. PARIS Saint-Germain will move for David de Gea this summer if Gigi Buffon retires.
With the Manchester United goalkeeper’s contract up in 2020 and the Spanish international stalling on a new deal while his demands go unmatched, the French club have already let it be known they are willing to give him the wages he wants.
That was initially with the idea that they would wait until next year, but PSG will instead move this summer if Buffon retires. At 41, the Italian will make a decision in the summer.
Juventus are also interested in De Gea but not yet as keenly as PSG. De Gea’s preference has been to stay at Old Trafford, but he now has a number of concerns.
The goalkeeper’s representatives are mindful of Alexis Sanchez’s huge contract, and believe that De Gea’s status as repeat winner of club player of the year should warrant being paid the highest wage in the squad.
The player himself is also worried about the direction of the club, and how the influential dressing-room group of Spanish-speaking players – including many of his best friends, like Juan Mata and PSG-bound Ander Herrera – are set to be broken up.
