Council boss assures NYSC members of security

Chairman, Idemili South Local Government Area, Don Unachukwu has assured the Batch ‘A’ members of the  National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving in  his domain  of adequate security during their service year.
He  tasked them to strive to engage in community development projects (CDS) that would attract both state and national awards and possible employment by the time of their  passing out.
Unachukwu gave the assurance recently while welcoming the corps members newly posted to his area at the council’s headquarters, Ojoto, saying that Idemili people are hospitable and peace loving.
Represented by the Head of Department, Education and Social Development at the local government, Dr Kingsley Ozodi, he  urged the corps members to disabuse their minds on the superstitions of the sacred Idemili python.
“I am sure you did not see any python on your way to this place. Forget about any story they may have told you concerning villagers hostility towards whoever desecrates their sacred python”.
“The point is that you mind your business and be law abiding. Don’t start looking for python to kill, after all they are harmless and every part of this country have pagans who worship a deity” he said
Unachukwu told them to take their place of primary assignment (PPA) very serious and avoid unnecessary travailing without permission or night marauding, adding that they should engage on group and individual CDS.
“We observe group CDS every Thursday. You must leave your PPA and come to join your group in whatever project or program you adopt at this local government  secretariat”.
Unachukwu urged them to contribute meaningfully to Idemili South as good ambassadors, saying that there were two corps members who got state awards from the state government during the immediate past batch’s passing out.
He also urged them to ‘ look out for something nonexistent in this local government area,  you can bring in to improve the social or economic development of this  area as your personal CDS.
“I tell you among your colleagues, there are people who will shake hands with Mr president or state governor, that is dependent on the value they added to their locality”.
In a vote of thanks, a batch A corps  member, Mr. Aghomashie Theophilus thanked the chairman  for the warm reception given them , pledging that they would be law abiding and resourceful during their stay.
