LEGISLATORS in the five South East states, made up of Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ebony and Abia have adopted unified standing order in line with agreed common standard for south east legislators.
Member, representing Anambra West Constituency, Victor Jideofor Okoye, moved the motion and was seconded by member, representing Ayamelum Constituency, Uche Okafor for the presentation, approval and adoption.
Chairman, South East Speakers Forum, Rita Maduagwu (Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly), at plenary congratulated herself and other speakers, Majority Leaders and Clark’s of the South East for making it a reality and for being able to see through the house rule.
Majority leader, Okoye, after presenting the order to the legislators, lauded all those who in one way or the order contributed to the success of the adoption of the standing order.
According to him,, ” I know how many times we have to meet at the different five states. Thank God that finally, we made it. It’s a plus to the 6th Assembly.
Member, representing Ayamelum Constituency, Uche Okafor and member, representing Njikoka 1, Timothy Ifedioramma, in their separate submissions, said, the unified Standing Order was for the interest of ndi-Anambra and other South East states.
“This will go in the history books that people like you (Rita Maduagwu) passed through this assembly. The uniformity of this standing order is very important. It is going to lead the house and guild properly. ”
