PUYOL brings UCL trophy to Nigeria

FORMER FC Barcelona of Spain defender and captain, Carlos Puyol was on the entourage of the UEFA Champions League tour to Nigeria.
The tour provides football fans around the world with a chance to get closer to the iconic UEFA champions league trophy and to heroes of the game. In its twelve-year history, the UEFA champion’s league tour presented by Heineken has reached 31 countries across Africa, Asia, North and South America and this year’s tour,l  was at the cities of Uyo and Lagos, in Nigeria.
Heineken’s 2018/19 UEFA champion’s league campaign entitled, “Unmissable” is based on the belief that every UEFA champions league match has unmissable moments of action for everyone to enjoy. Heineken is bringing these moments to life for football fans across the globe by providing them with unforgettable event experiences, enabling them to get closer to the iconic UEFA champions league trophy and legends of the game.
As part of its global campaign, the 2019 UEFA champions league tour presented by Heineken stopped in Uyo on 16th of April and Lagos on the 17th & 18th of April. For three days, fans will have a rare opportunity to take photos with the UEFA champion’s league trophy, meet Carles Puyol and experience the thrill of the tour in their hometown.
Puyol is considered one of the best players of his generation, having won the UEFA champion’s league in 2006, 2009 and 2011 with Barcelona. Puyol has a historic link to the UEFA champion’s league and plays a significant role in demonstrating the intense passion for the tournament.
Marketing Director, Nigeria Breweries PLc, Emmanuel Oriakhi: – “we are excited to bring the UEFA champion’s league trophy and to meet Carles Puyol in their home city. Our aim is to enable fans that would otherwise not get the opportunity, to experience the unmissable action of the UEFA champion’s league.”
This year, the UEFA Champion’s league tour presented by Heineken will visit in South Africa, Namibia, Indonesia, China, Nigeria and USA.
Activities in Nigeria commence in Uyo with a press conference and ended in Lagos with a consumer experience at Eko Hotel.
Earlier, in a football encounter played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo, the team Shine Shine Bobo captained by Jay Jay Okocha lost by 5-2 goals to the team chairman made up of youngsters of the Akwa Utd FC of Uyo.
Notable old players such as Uche Okechukwu, Mutiu Adepoju, featured for the team Shine Shine Bobo.
Sensational Master dribbler, Jay Jay Okocha scored one of the goals for his side through a free kick.
