Anambra State House of Assembly has passed House Services Commission Bill, 2018 into law . It also urged the bureaucracy of the legislature to fine-tune the law for onward presentation to Governor Willie Obiano for his assent to enable the law become operational.
The Speaker of the House, Rita Maduagwu, read the bill for the 3rd time and the house passed it into law, noting that the 6th assembly has recorded a monumental achievement with the passage of the bill.
Maduagwu explained that state Houses of Assembly in the country fought for the aforementioned bill for the purposes of financial autonomy. She however pointed that the bill was special to the 6th legislature in the state because it came into force during its dispensation.
The speaker also disclosed that President Mohammadu Buhari has set up committees across the country to monitor all the states in the country to ensure that the financial autonomy for the legislature was being implemented. She therefore expressed confidence that the governor would give assent to the law to enable the state move forward.
Contributing, the lawmaker representing Onitsha-North 1 state constituency, Chigbo Enwezo, said the 6th assembly had done a great service for the legislative arm of the government and that the commencement of the law would help improve operations of the state House of Assembly.
