CHIKE Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (COCES), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, in collaboration with Chike Okoli Foundation(COF) has concluded plans to flag up the ninth edition of an entrepreneurial seminar, titled, ‘rags to riches’ seminar, geared towards preparing young undergraduate for entrepreneurial engagements after graduation from the university
According to the Director, Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (COCES), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Ngozi Anyikwa, who disclosed this to National Light in an interview at the centre, the seminar, scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the COCES Auditorium is aimed towards bringing successful entrepreneurs to the university so that they can talk to the students and share their own experiences, as most of the entrepreneurs started from rags and now are on top of their professions. This is our 9th edition of this seminar.
“They are coming to talk to the students on what inspired them, how they started their business, how they were able to raise funds, how they are able to attain the heights they are in at present, among others. We deemed it fit that such talks will be able to motivate or encourage students to take up entrepreneurial challenges, Prof Anyikwa said.
Among the personalities expected at the seminar with theme, ‘Making Your Passion Your Paycheck’ is the guest speaker in the person of an astute entrepreneur, Sir Robert Anwatu, CEO Roban group. Other resource persons are Dr Friday Okpara, Director SPL, SMEDAN, Abuja and the MD of USP Brand Management, Lagos, Mr Muyiwa Kayode.
“To crown it all, the benefactor, Dr Stella Okoli, OON, Chairman Chike Okoli Foundation, who happens to be the one who built and donated the facility we are operating from in memory of his late son, Mr Chike Okoli to the university will be at the event. She invested billions of naira in this project to encourage the youths in skills that will equip them for life”, the director said.
Meanwhile the Vice Chancellor, UNIZIK, Prof Joseph C. Ahaneku will be the chief host of the event which will commence by 10am.
