Lawmakers congratulate Osodieme for new award

ANAMBRA State House of Assembly has congratulated the wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano on the conferment of 2019 woman of Excellence Award.
The award was conferred by the Top Ten African Award (USA) for her sterling contribution and support to the success of Chief Willie Obiano as he marks five years in office as the governor of Anambra State.
In a motion sponsored by member representing Idemili North constituency, Nkoli Mmegbuanaeze, the house members in their separate speeches described her as a mother with a good heart, philanthropist, adding that she has done a lot in contributing to the success of this administration which she has been rewarded.
It would be recalled that Mrs Obiano deemed it necessary to set up the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) since the inception of Obiano administration and made it a platform for humanitarian services and human capital development in Anambra State.
Mrs Obiano, through the CAFE platform trained and empowered about 4,400 indigent women, widows and youth in various skills, thereby giving them source of livelihood and enablement to sustain their family.
22 widows have benefitted from her NGO free housing scheme and that has contributed to the promotion of clean and healthy Anambra, eradication of open defecation through the construction of modern toilets in rural markets across the state
She has provided free prosthetic limps and legs to 1,400 persons with another 1,800 getting free wheel chairs, in addition to facilitating free cleft lip/palate surgeries for over 100 persons.
Smile train a global NGO which provides funding for such care has promised to partner with CAFE and pledged to provide more support for local professionals working in local hospitals in Anambra in concert with Osodieme.
The numerous interventions by Mrs Obiano have benefitted many in Anambra state and many are not surprised by the award stating that it is well deserved.
