In Ogidi, kerosene explosion kills 11-year-old girl

TRAGEDY struck at Etiti village, Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State as an 11-year-old-girl, Makuochukwu Nkwunabo was burnt to death following a kerosene explosion.

It was gathered that the little girl, who was the third child of her father,  was lighting the lantern when the incident occurred.

The girl’s father, Nwoye Nkwunabo, who lamented that his daughter is now one of those killed s result of adulterated kerosene they bought unknowingly from dealers, called on government and other spirited individuals to come to his rescue.

He disclosed that the kerosene was bought four days before the day of the incident.

He said that the girl had poured the kerosene in the lantern and lit the matches when the explosion occurred with accompanying flame, covering the whole apartment and the girl died immediately.

He however, disclosed that took her to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead because of severe burns and suffocation.
