Libya beat Under 23 Eagles 2-0



NIGERIA’S under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles stuttered and lost direction on Wednesday against Libya, after suffering a first half red card and forced substitution, which left them conceding two goals. gathered that Nigeria’s coach, Imama Amapakabo was left flustered when he had to change his goalkeeper and sacrifice an outfield player, only to later on see the need for another attacker to also go off.
Amapakabo’s side struggled for understanding and coordinated play in the first leg of their Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier away, then suffered a huge blow when the goalkeeper, Abubakar Adamu was sent off after he handled the ball outside his area.
Reserve keeper, Olawale Oremade went on to replace Adamu in goal and Dennis Bonaventure was taken off.
Libya doubled their lead in the 69th minute with a sleek counter attack as they took advantage of a red card for the visitors, who then tried to put more pressure on their hosts in the second half.
Later on, Chidera Ezeh went in for Muyiwa Olabiran, as Libya led 2-0 into the last hour of the encounter, with the visitors battling hard to reduce the deficit.
However, tried as Amapakabo’s lads did, they could not turn the table and will need to score three unreplied goals in the second leg, which comes up on Monday at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
