The new ideation that has mapped another niche in the Nigeria music industry is the formation of a group blueprint. In recent times, Mavin Records team were the first to hit the streets with the popular track, Dorobucci. It was the rave of the moment especially for 2014-2015.
The song video featured all artistes under the signage of the Mavins record label. Following suit was the MMM( Made Men Music) which had the Kukere Master,Iyanya, amongst others. Then Davido Music World (DMW) breaking ranks in early 2018.
It comes no surprise as one of the trending legends of indigenous street hip-hop artist, Chibuzor Azubuike aka Phyno Fino (Phenomenal) has released a hit number with members of his team, which goes by the name appreciation PHM(PentHouse Music Group). The number was titled, ‘Nyem Space’ featuring Rhatti and a host of others including the CEO, Phyno.
Nyem Space talks about the idea of identity. It tells of the individual getting recognised for his personal contribution to the society. A line in the chorus reads thus,
‘’…..I don’t get it when you get too close/Nyem Space/(yem afe nwanne)
And if you don’t know me well/ Nyem Space/(yem afe nwanne) x2………….’’
We will not just discuss the number but the remote idea behind it. As you would agree with me, Phyno moves are going to open new avenues for young and upcoming artistes to get an opportunity to get acqauited and become famous in the music scene. A closer study at the number , you would notice virtually the new artistes were given the privilege to do more of the singing while the main boss maintained a quiet scene of singing the chorus. Now that is what I would consider to be called humility.
Phyno must be thinking a way to help out younger and upcoming artistes. This idea is a good start to this effect. Upcoming rookies always have meet a challenge of displaying their talent on a visible platform especially in South East Niger. I strongly believe with the unveiling of PHM on the platform, this will address the issue.
Presently, the number is the rave of the moment in the streets, clubhouses and other leisure centres in major cities of the countries. In Enugu, his birth city, the number is heard at almost every nook and cranny of the city especially in Abakpa in Nike town.
PHM is the new dawn from the land of the rising sun. Most artistes from the South East and South South have always believed that migration into Lagos or Abuja will breed faster success. Hence, the need for already established stars from the region to encourage them by lighting their paths with moral and financial support in their music career.
With top and trending music stars in persons of Mr. Flavour, Phyno,Chidimma, J.Martins,Duncan Mighty, Patoranking, Mr. Raw and a host of others, the aspiring and upcoming artistes need not be worried or discouraged in fully pursuing their music careers.
