Urges Atiku to concede defeat
Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the just concluded presidential election in Nigeria, imploring him to run an all inclusive government.
The group in its congratulatory message released through its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim Biu, Wednesday, expressed its joy on the outcome of the election, insisting that credible evidence that the election was generally peaceful, free and fair abound.
According to ACF, the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, after painstaking collations of all the election results received from the 36 states and FCT, and having satisfied the requirements as provided by law has signaled a new administration in the nation’s democratic process.
The group showered encomiums on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conduct of 2019 presidential election, describing it as a milestone in the nation’s election history.
“The successful conclusion of this election despite some of the ugly incidences witnessed in some parts of country in terms of ballot box snatching, killings, security challenges and other logistic problems, Nigerians have clearly demonstrated their resolve to move forward and consolidate the gains of multiparty democracy.
The group further commended the courage of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for putting up a very impressive performance in the election contest while urging him to concede defeat and congratulate the winner, Mr Buhari as that would be in the overall interest of Nigeria and make him a true democrats.
The group however advised the president to ensure that his new term tackles decisively the task of strengthening Nigeria’s unity and inclusiveness of all groups in government to douse mounting agitation.
