Two, arrested for attempting to plant explosives in Ebonyi



EBONYI State Governor, David Umahi has said that two persons have been arrested for allegedly planting improvised explosive devices, IEDs, on Idembia Bridge, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. 
The two person arrested by police were identified as Nweke Kingsley and Uwakwe Chijoke.
Umahi disclosed this on Friday during a press conferences with the journalist at the Executive Chamber, Government House, Abakaliki.
He said “intelligence information received shows  that a meeting was held and it was agreed to plant explosives in hotels, in flyovers and bridges including bridges built by past administration in the state”.
“According to Umahi the two suspects were arrested by members of neighborhood watch; the local security outfit of the state and handed over to the police.
He further disclosed that a report came to him as Chief Security officer of the state that a House of Assembly candidate went to quarry site to buy explosives and the people came and reported to us, they refused to sell to him. We had to immediately report to the security agencies.
” We were still examining the authenticity of the information, and they have been apprehended and sent to the Army and the Army has sent them to the police. They are currently being investigated”.
“However, I have directed that anybody who causes violence during the election should be arrested and charged to court irrespective of the position of the person ” let’s be law abiding and this election will come and go.
” I urged the Ebonyi people to go  en mass and vote for their choice candidates, without fear because we have equipped many security agencies around the state, they are in control”.Umahi said.
