Anambra Youth Forum holds summit



AHEAD of the forthcoming general election, the leadership of Anambra Youth Forum (AYF) comprising majorly of Senator Victor Umeh and Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo’s supporters has convened a youth summit that analyzes the political exigencies of the time with a view to sensitizing and mobilizing the youth towards a credible, free and fair and conclusive election throughout Anambra  State.
The event, which focused on “Good Governance & Democracy in Nigeria – The Role of Igbo Youth” held at King David Hotel, Awka, under the distinguished chairmanship of the Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Matter, Uche Egbebike (KSJ) and was heavily attended by dignitaries from all nooks and crannies of the state, including the liaison officer, Victor Umeh Support Group, Sir Emmanuel Okafor, Education Secretary, Anaocha LGA Education Authority, Sir Emeka Anetoh.
Other dignitaries present in the occasion were the coordinators for Senator Dr Victor Umeh’s Re-election, Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, comprising the Coordinator, Njikoka Local Government Area, Prof. Gabriel Anene, the coordinator, Anaocha Local Government Area and SA to Governor Willie on Housing,  S.O. Okafor, the Cordinators Awka North and South Local Government Areas, Professor AU Nnoyelu and Dr Henry Ilo, the Cordinators Idemili North and South Local Government Areas, Professor Okigbo and Professor P.N. Okeke, as well as the Cordinator, Dunukofia Local Government, Obi Sunday Ogoh, among others.
The union in a communiqué signed by Comrade Peter Ewenike, Miss Chidimma Umejesi and the Legal Adviser, Anambra Youth Forum,  Amaechi Onwujekwe, declared the resolutions of the organization, stating“that Ndigbo must grow and dominate a political party in Nigeria for a fair bargain in Nigeria Project hence its adoption of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA); that Senator (Dr) Victor Umeh who had performed so well under 10 months in the senate is adopted as a candidate for his bold, courageous and effective representation in the senate; that Senator Victor Umeh through his exploits in the senate within the short time has convincingly proved that what is required for Igbos and Nigeria at large is unity of purpose but with fair treatment to all segments of the country and as such will vote for him.”
While speaking on “Good Governance & Democracy in Nigeria – The Role of Igbo youth,” the Patron, Chairman (BOT) and Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Housing, S. O. Okafor,  enjoined the youth to pursue education vigorously in all aspects of human endeavour as their callings demanded and to be actively engaged in politics.
According to Okafor, elections are rigged, marred and made successful through the activities of the youth only. He called on the youth to demonstrate seriousness in ensuring massive vote for credible candidates who will deliver the dividends of good governance to the electorate, praising them for their good conducts during the last guber election in Anambra State and the re-election of Anambra Central Senatorial election that saw Sen. Victor Umeh into the Senate.
He appealed to them to throw their weights behind senator Dr. Victor Umeh and other APGA candidates contesting the 2019 general election to consolidate on the development/progress of the state and challenged other states of the federation to join APGA so as to replicate the pattern and momentum of development across Nigeria.
Also, the Chairman of the occasion and Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on political matter, Uche Egbebike called on the youth, especially those from Anambra Central Senatorial District to come out enmasse to vote for APGA candidates in the forthcoming general election.
Commenting on the event during an interview with National Light, the liaison officer, Victor Umeh Support Group, Sir Emmanuel Ezeoba Okafor, also thanked the youth for their visionary election and their present determination to solidly be behind APGA in the forthcoming  election.
“A vote for APGA is a guarantee for your future and the future of your children and posterity and a vote for Victor Umeh is a vote for selfless service. Vote APGA, Vote Victor Umeh,” he said.
The president, Anambra Youth Forum while thanking everyone present, commended the Patron, Chairman (BOT) and Special Assistant to Governor Wiillie Obiano on Housing, S.O. Okafor, for his patriotism and foresight and for ensuring the formation, growth and registration of the Forum since 1996.
