Regional autonomy, good representation my priorities – Ezekwelu

Sir Tony-Uche Ezekwelu, popularly known as Ochiagha Ndintorobia Igbo, an Ojoto indigene is contesting for senatorial  position  for Anambra Central under the African Democratic Congress, ( ADC).
He said that he was moved to contest for the senatorial position because Anambra  Central Senatorial zone lost four years of democracy  dividends, and  had  four years  of misrepresentation, four years of bickering.  The two candidates from the Peoples   Democratic Party and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)  had been fighting  for the past four years. They just caused a big crisis for us .
According  to  him,  if  Ekwunife  or Umeh wins,  the other person will hold  him down.  We will still have the same problem. So, we need a neutral person.
“We don’t want people  who do not associate  with the masses.  We have people who don’t  know  what our people  like.  People who do not hold town hall meetings.  We need people, representatives who will leave Abuja on Fridays and come home, spend the weekend , interact with  the people and know their problems. We need people who have their children schooling in the country,  not people  whose children study abroad. We also have people here who fail to understand that power belongs to them.
On his mission,  Ezekwelu said he intended to be most influential and  an efficient  senator that will utilize all legislative  and socio-political instruments  available to organize Igbo people  worldwide  using Anambra Central  as a hub to  make  Igbo nation the centre of advancement in all spheres of development .
He stated that they will ensure that they network with  and utilize all necessary  power points to ensure  that all laws and policies  that affected the Igbo people  negatively are “dismantled and laws that protect and give the Igbo people advantages  are enabled within and outside the  context of Nigeria.
Ezekwelu noted that apart from the primary job of making laws to protect and advance the cause of the people, he will ensure that all democratic dividends due to the people from all tiers of government are provided.
” Our constituency  projects shall focus mainly on sustainable  human capital development  to guarantee  our youths, women and  less privileged  people,  economic  self reliance  and advancement. We shall provide  standard  orientation,  skills acquisition,  entrepreneurial training  and empowerment,  as well as promote creative and qualitative education, among others”.
To achieve all these,   Ezekwelu disclosed that he set up education  development and scholarship trust fund,  economic empowerment  and advancement  trust fund, as well as youth leadership  and membership project.
Ezekwelu condemned money politics. He said money politics was the problem we have. The candidate advised the people to shun money politics and vote for him,  a young  and energetic  candidate who will give them good representation.
