Anambra empowers 86 graduates



MINISTRY of Social Welfare, Children and Affairs, Anambra State recently held a  graduation and empowerment ceremony of  grandaunds of the skill acquisition centre at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
Speaking during the graduation, the wife of the governor, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano thanked everybody that participated in the programme and encouraged the graduates not to be only self employed but employers of labour.
She added that the Government of Anambra State has trained and empowered 4,360 persons in various skills “we believe when we train people they will go out and develop others, use the equipment you acquired and be a better person in the society.”

In her speech, Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Ndidi Mezue appreciate the wife of the governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano for her effort in equipping many indigent women and youths as possible with skills for employability, self reliance and entrepreneurship in the state, urging the grandaunts to be good ambassadors of the centre and make use of the knowledge and skills acquired in the centre.
Mezue requested for provision of permanent staff in the relevant skills as most of the instructors are casual workers, schools bus and building of hostels since all the students are currently day students, as some drop out before the end of the programme.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry , Azuka Offomata thanked the wife of the governor, Mrs Obiano for the good work she has been doing in the ministry and Anambra State; and prayed for God’s sustenance on her.
Leaders in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Creative Economy, and Skill Acquisition Centre, Bonaventure Enemali and Ogunwa Love Amaoyibo in their speeches advised the grandaunts to make use of the equipment given to them and become somebody in the society, and train others for the good for the state.
In their separate speeches, Charity Madubuchi, Uchenna Igwumezie and Juliet Ebe who were the graduands thanked the wife of the governor for her immense contribution in equipping them to have a better living in the society and promised to train others.
High point of the occasion was presentation of items to the graduate which included; sewing machine, cooking gas and hair drier.
