Suspected cultists kill Police officer



GUNMEN suspected to be cultists have attacked police team on duty in Asaba, Delta State, killing a police sergent and seriously wounded others who fled with matchet cuts.
National Light gathered that the incident occurred along Nnebisi Road by kowea plaza as the policemen engaged motorist in stop and search even as their two riffles and a service pistol were taken away.
Mohammad Mustafa, the state Police Commissioner while confirming the incident, stated that the wounded police officers are receiving treatment in the hospital.
He stated that the command has stepped up intensive investigation, stressing that the gunmen would soon be arrested.
It will be recalled that few weeks ago, gunmen attacked a police team at cable point Asaba where a policeman was allegedly killed, others badly wounded and their riffles taken.
In a related development, four Catholic Priest kidnapped last week have been released.
Confirming the release, the state Commissioner of Police said the priests were released on Tuesday, stressing that they were released by security operative from Delta and Edo Police Commands. He stated that his men have spread their drag net to get the kidnappers.
The priest were kidnapped on the way to Uhielle in Ekpoma, Edo State last week on a social function.
