New IGP, force PRO resume work



PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Adamu Mohammed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), following the retirement of the former  IGP, Idris Abubakar, who turned 60 years on Tuesday.
Sources close to National Light said that Mohammed will  first serve in acting capacity.  Adamu Mohammad who was a one time  Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Police Command,  is an Interpol veteran. He was the AIG in charge of Zone 5, Benin, until last November when he was redeployed to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru, Plateau State, as Directing Officer by IGP Idris.
The appointment of AIG Adamu Mohammed as the new police boss has brought to an end, the career of all Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs), as their junior has been made  a head over them. It has also brought to an end, the tenure extension earlier sought by the former IGP, Idris Abubakar .
Also a new force PRO ACP Frank Mba has been appointed. He takes over from Jimoh Moshood.
