Bayern confirms Pavard deal
Bundesliga champions have activated the Stuttgart defender’s release clause and he’ll join up with his new club at the end of the 2018-19 season Bayern Munich have confirmed that France’s World Cup-winning defender Benjamin Pavard will join them in July 2019.
The Bundesliga club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic announced the news on Wednesday, with Bayern having activated the Stuttgart centre-half’s €35 million (£31m/$40m) release clause.
Pavard emerged as one of the stars of France’s World Cup triumph in Russia, playing in six matches over the course of the tournament at right-back, including the full 90 minutes in the 4-2 win over Croatia in the final.
His memorable strike against Argentina in the last 16 was also voted Goal of the Tournament , beating the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Salihamidzic revealed to reporters: “I can confirm that Benjamin Pavard will join us on a five-year deal from 1st July 2019. “Pavard is a young player and a world champion. We’re delighted and very proud to have been able to secure the services of a player like him
