Ukwulu PG lauds Obiano on culture, tourism

PRESIDENT General of Ukwulu Town in Dunukofia Local Government Area, Walter Okafor, has commended Gov. Willie Obiano’s investment on culture and tourism, saying it creates enabling environment for future development of the sector as a veritable cash cow.
Chief Okafor made this assertion while speaking to newsmen as part of his goodwill and felicitation message to Igwe Peter Uyanwa, the traditional ruler of Ukwulu, who held his maiden Ofalla festival in his palace at the weekend.
According to him, the governor’s investment in local arts, culture and tourism is not only in line with his commitment to diversifying the state economy but so crucial as prevailing turbulence in global oil market, called for alternative sources of public finance to meet up with growing expectations.
Chief Okafor further gave kudos to Gov. Obiano, particularly in his rural development programme, as well as the statewide street lighting  project which, he said, has arrived Ukwulu to bring back night life in the town and chase out criminal elements that had previously capitalised on nightfall to wreck havoc on law-abiding citizens in the community.
He expressed confidence that Ukwulu will witness more development in the coming year to consolidate on gains already made by the town under his administration.
Also speaking to newsmen, former Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu University (COOU), Prof. Fidelis Okafor, extolled Gov. Obiano, saying his four pillars of development stratagy will continue to yield desired dividends which will lay strong foundation and legacies that successive administrations will build upon.
One of the candidates vying for Njikoka-Anaocha-Dunukofia Federal Constituency of the National Assembly in the forthcoming 2019 general election, Elijah Onyeagba, also used the occasion to urge ndi Anambra to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready ahead of the elections and ensure no unscrupulous politician price it away from them for any amount.
Onyeagba further advised voters to go for candidates whose manifestoes reflect yearnings and aspirations that tally with the general Igbo cause within a united, prosperous and free Nigeria, adding that no matter who wins or loses, the continuous well-being and even development of Anambra State should remain the focal point for both the electorate and political office seekers, adding that in democratic elections voters are the real king makers and not godfathers.
The occasion was graced by many illustrious indigenes of Ukwulu and their neighbours, including National Youth President of Ukwulu town, Dr. Austine Maduka and Chief Emeka Osita, among others who all lauded Igwe Unyanwa and Chief Okafor for piloting the affairs of  the community with prudence and selflessness
