ZIKS mausoleum finally completed



MULTI million federal project, Ziks Mausoleum, Onitsha, has finally been completed after more than two decades, even as the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has dismasted the insinuation in several quarters that the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) used a political strategy.
The minister, who inspected the project on Monday, in the company of Dr. Chris Ngige, said the determination of President Buhari’s administration to complete the project was a mark of respect and honour for the revered first president of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
His words, “President Buhari decided to see the project completed through after successive administrations had abandoned it because of what the great Zik of Africa stood for.
“We had the mandate of the president to finish the construction of the mausoleum and I am happy because the job is completed, this is the fourth time I am coming to visit the project since assumption of office. Even as I was coming, no one accused us of playing politics with it. “Now that it is finishe,d they are saying we are playing politics with it.
He stated that he is proud of his staff who he described as faithful civil servants for keeping faith with the project.
His counterpart, Dr. Charis Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, expressed immense gratitude to President Buhari for the great honour done to Zik and Igbo nation. He noted that the project had been abandoned for decades and assured it was the beginning of many good things to come for the Igbo nation.
