Anambra targets 90% budget performance in 2019



Anambra State Government has said that it targets 90% budget implementation in next year’s financial year judging from the way the budget is structured to achieve economic development.
The state Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Mark Okoye, disclosed this in Awka, on Monday, while giving a rundown of the 2019 Budget to journalists.
Okoye said strategies had been mapped out to ensure the realisation of the 90% budget performance in the state, pointing out that a lot of resources would be deployed into capacity building , monitoring and evaluation of different projects and programmes in the state.
He also said resources would be channeled into attracting more development partners, as well as various counterpart contributions on various partnership programmes, even as he noted that the 2019 Appropriation Bill presented to the state House of Assembly was very realistic, especially in the medium term expenditure framework.
The commissioner however recalled that last year budget Performance was not up to 90% due to some militating factors he termed paucity of funds , flood and what have you but he was equally optimistic that in the coming year the state would attain 90% of her economic goals and objectives even though he declared that in the last 4 years Anambra state has done 80% budget Performance noting that the state government was prudent in the management of her economic resources and does not play politics of budgeting.
