THE people of Nando have been charged to adequately protect every government property within their community, against vandals.
Gov Willie Obiano gave the charge when he visited the community to inspect the ongoing construction of 4.34 Km road of Ikem Nando – Nkwo Nando, Anambra East Local government Area.
The Governor recalled that his administration had embarked on several projects in Nando, geared towards creating windows of economic opportunities.
He noted that Nando, being agrarian community had potential to add to the high amount of food production in the state, in line with his administrative drive of ensuring food sufficiency.
Gov Obiano emphasized that the road which would be completed by the end of February 2019, would add to already eight roads commenced and completed by his administration.
The Gov revealed that the road was structurally designed to meet standard recommendation with other facilities that would enhance trading and promote productivity.
He warned against indiscriminate disposal of refuse, especially in drainages, which had contributed in blocking free flow of water, resulting in flooding.
The Contractor handling the project, as well as the Managing Director, New Idea Constructions, HRH Igwe Ben Emeka, said 2.5Km of the road had been asphalted, assuring to complete others before February, 2019.
Igwe Emeka described the road as very strategic, as it linked other major communities, including federal road.
Also speaking, the Managing Director, Anambra State Maintenance Agency,
(ARMA), Emeka Okoye, observed that over 30Km of roads had been completed in Nando, by Governor Obiano’s administration.
