Anambra re-assures of free flow of traffic during Yuletide
GOVERNMENT of Anambra State has re-assured that it will complete many roads being re-constructed ahead of the yuletide season.
Gov. Willie Obiano gave the assurance when he inspected the commencement of work on virtually all dilapidated roads in the state.
“They will be given urgent attention to ease traffic congestion on them.”
He added that the reconstruction of Nnokwa-Ichida-Oraeri Aguluzigbo Road would soon be completed, noting that contractor has been mobilised for the 7.8 km road with two drainages.
The governor explained that the contractors handling major roads in Anambra had earlier stopped because of heavy downpour but have since been mobilised back to site as rainfall had slowed.
He ordered the contractors to utilise the funds disbursed to them for proper asphalting of the roads and ensure that they achieve maximum results before the Christmas.
Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor, confirmed that jobs were awarded to competent contractors, who will deliver according to designs and specifications.
The Contractor, Mr Chuks Okolo, said that his company, Pachuks Construction Company had completed the earthworks and construction of 2km drainage systems on the road.
Okolo re-assured that his firm would achieve at least one kilometre asphalting of the road before Christmas season.
