Anambra West PVCs set for voter collection

INDEPENDENT National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun distribution of over 2,370 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra West Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
The exercise which commenced Tuesday would end on Monday, November 12.
INEC Electoral Officer for Anambra West LGA, Victor Oko disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting at Umueze Anam Town Hall, stressing that the exercise would have commenced earlier but for the flooding that hit the area recently.
According to him, there would be collection points at the ward level, with adequate time set out for claims and objections.
“INEC during this period will commence distribution of voters’ cards, secondly provision for claims and objections for those registered in 2017. Claims in the sense that any mistake in your names or date of births will be corrected while objections on the other hand means that if someone registered is no longer alive, but there is an evidence that he/she is dead, that will help INEC to have authentic register for Anambra West,” he added.
Speaking further, Oko noted that due to the difficult terrain of the area, special provisions have been installed to tackle it, especially those staying in various holding centres, emphasising that INEC engaged no fewer than 10 trained Corps members to back up regular staff to ensure that the exercise goes on smoothly.
Also speaking, Transitional Council Chairman of Anambra West L G A, Sylvester Okafor, thanked INEC for its commitments and selfless services to the electorate, describing the stakeholders meeting as timely, promising to do everything within his powers toward ensuring that ndi Anambra West come out en masse to collect their cards.
