AFCON: Equatorial Guinea women squad reinstated



CONFEDERATION of African Football (CAF) have officially disclosed they have lifted the ban off Equatorial Guinea’s women’s team for them to participate normally in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Equatorial Guinea have been banned from participating in the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in 2018, which is the only mean to qualify to the World Cup.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee had punished the African nation by banning them from appearing in the 2019 Women’s World Cup and fined them with 100,000 Swiss Franc for fielding ineligible players during the preliminary competition of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016.
CAF’s Appeal Board have convened on Wednesday to discuss the appeal launched by the Federación Ecuatoguineana de Fútbol. The board decided that the appeal lodged is admissible.
Annette Jacky Messomo, which the eligibility protest was against, is eligible to play for the national team of Equatorial Guinea. Furthermore and most importantly, the national team of Equatorial Guinea is reintegrated in the Total African Women’s Cup of Nations 2018.
