Russia, UAE to partner Nigeria in oil, gas devp

NEW lease of life is underway for Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the development of the upstream, midstream, downstream and services sectors as Russia and United Arab Emirates get set to expand their trade co-operations with Nigeria to further boost economies of the three countries in the petroleum industry.
Russian Ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey Shebarshin, and his United Arab Emirates (UAE) counterpart, Obaid Mohammed Aitaffag, dropped the hint while fielding questions from newsmen after a visit to NNPC Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, stating that the proposed multilateral synergy would make life better in both countries.
“With deep thanks and appreciation of further cooperation between the Russia Oil and Gas Companies and NNPC that will bring positive results of our joint cooperation,” Shebarshin affirmed.
In his own encounter with newsmen, Aitaffag pledged that UAE would continue to partner NNPC in the development of the downstream and services sector of the petroleum industry.
“It was a pleasure to meet the NNPC team led by Dr. Baru. I hope that our discussion brings closer ties between UAE and Nigeria in the areas of oil and gas,” Aitaffag enthused.
The Russian Federation and UAE are member countries of Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) which have played crucial roles in networking the recent declaration of global cooperation by oil producing nations to stabilise oil supply to the international market.
