Adeleke arraigned for exam fraud



SENATOR Representing Osun West Senatorial District and People’s Democratic Party flag bearer during the September 22 gubernatorial election in Osu State, Ademola Adeleke, was yesterday arraigned before a Federal High Court Abuja presided over by Justice I. E. Ekwo.
Adeleke is standing trial with four others on a four-count charge of examination malpractice, fraud, impersonation and unlawful registration allegedly committed at Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro in Osun State, for National Examination Council (NECO)’s June-July 2017 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in February 2017.
According to the prosecutor, apart from Senator Adeleke, others docked include Sikiru Adeleke, who also sat for the examination; Principal of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Alhaji Aregbesola Muftau; registrar of the school, Gbadamosi Ojo, and a teacher, Dare Olutope.
However, all the five defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail in the sum of N2 million with one surety, who must be a responsible citizen and owner of landed property in Abuja each, as well as deposit their passports at court registry from where they would seek permission before travelling overseas.
But the fourth and the fifth defendants, who did not have any legal representation, were remanded in prison pending when they file their bail applications.
