PROMINENT members of Anambra State Government, Tuesday, gathered at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish, Ekwulobia Street, GRA, Awka, to give the late Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, on Audio-visual Media, Mr Randie Chima, a befitting wake keep.
The church service, which started by 5pm attracted the presence of various state actors like The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, the Deputy-Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C.Don Adinuba, Commissioner for Artwork, Culture, Diaspora and Tourism, Sally Mbanefo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation,(Publisher of National Light Newspaper, Ka O Di Taa and SportsLight EXTRA), Sir ChukaNnabuife, among others.
Chief Willie Obiano condoled the family of the berevead during the wake keep at St ThomasAquinas Catholic Parish, Ekwulobia Street, GRA,Awka.
He urged the family to bear the irreparable loss and find solace in God, adding that someday, we all shall answer the inevitable clarion call. He described the late Randie as an important asset to him and the state Pointing out that he was hardworking and a very loyal person he has ever worked with.
“Randie helped in developing and solving most of the issues in different local government areas, which made citizens adore him the more. That was why when I received the sad news of his death what went through my mind was that we just lost one of the most important assets in Anambra State”
He encouraged his wife and children to appreciate the Lord for waking up every morning and not to feel sad anymore adding that Randie will forever be in their hearts. “It is not really the numerous achievements one has but how one uses those achievements to change and impact the lives of people” he said.
He also encouraged the congregation to always help the needy, instead of neglecting them because whatever one does on a daily basis will be accounted for. “Randie left a mark of greatness wherever he went to, and in whatever he did which made people see and understand his vision and dreams for Anambra State”
While lamenting the death of Randie, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, disclosed that he worked very closely with him when he was alive.
“Our journey together started in 1992 in Surulere Lagos. Ever since then, we travelled all over the world. “We were inseparable”. Adinuba revealed that some years back, due to his gifts and talents, he was invited by BBC London for a program titled “The dead Awakens” which was co-hosted by Wole Soyinka but surprisingly he turned it down and said he still had a lot to achieve. Commissioner of Information mentioned that because of his talents, he offered him a position at his work place in order not to lose a great asset.
On his part, the Secretary to the State Government ,Prof Solo Chukulobelu said that Randie was a great, remarkable and most especially a loyal friend to him.This is so because when it came to people and how to make things easy for them, he was one of the best. He made a lot of sacrifices when matters were called for him to do so.
The SSG pointed out that his death was unfortunate, but his mind is at ease because he lived a great and wonderful life. Not just that he made numerous impact in the places he visited and worked that is why his reputation will continue to speak for itself.
Contributing, the Editor-In-Chief of National Light Newspaper Sir ChukaNnabuife, described the late Randie as a hardworking, very creative, straight forward and easy going man.
“He was a friend. But I don’t think it is right to be celebrating him for his very outstanding ability. So friendship is just below the mark for him. Even at that, it was natural to him. His nick name was “Enyioma”. Randie outstanding feature all through his life was loyalty, integrity and his commitment to anything he calls duty; those three factors made him remarkable.
Sir Chuka pointed out that if you had Randie with you in any cost, you will be sure that someone has your back, that is why we as his friends in the group call “4 Randie”.
Why we are committed to telling him that is because we know that if it was any of us that has fallen and he is alive, he will go extra mile to make sure that our achievements and impacts to people are well known, which brought about our passionate commitment to his funeral and tribute because he would have done the same for us.
