THE seven- year protracted chieftaincy issue that almost tore the ancient town of Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area apart has been laid to rest through the judgment of Justice Ike Ogu, sitting in the High Court of Ogbaru Judicial Division, Holding at Atani.
Hon. Justice Ike Ogu had before his voluminous judgement on a suit filed by Chy Ebubechukwu Etudo Refus Onwuegbuchulan, Churchill Ezeani and Emmanuel Omenkwu Mathew Chukwuka on behalf of indeginous Nnobi community against H.R.H Igwe Engr. Nick Obi,Chairman Idemili South Local Government and Anambra State Governor, challenged the recognition of H.R.H Igwe Engr Nick Obi (Omenyili) as the traditional ruler of Nnobi.
In his judgement, Hon. Justice Ike Ogu observed that Igwe Nick Obi fulfilled all the conditions and requirements and having accordingly been granted the certificate of recognition by Anambra State Government as Igwe Nnobi ,is the bonafide Igwe of Nnobi Town.
Hon Justice Ogu, on that note, issued an order restraining the plaintiffs by themselves, their privies, cronies or surrogates from embarking upon or engaging in an action that will undermine or derogate the discharge of his recognized duties as the traditional ruler of Nnobi Town. He had as follow-up to that order, told the plaintifsf to pay N100,000 cost to the defendants.
Igwe Nick Obi expressed happiness over the judgement which is an added lubricant to the much he has done for Ndi Nnobi since his enthronement as the royal father of the town.
