2019: APGA sets up peace c’ttee

AS part of efforts to heal altercations resulting from recent Imo State primaries of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and ensure a better outing for the party at the forthcoming 2019 general elections, the National Working Committee of APGA has set up a Peace and Reconciliation Committee to be headed by the party’s vice presidential candidate, Chief Jerry Chukwueke.
Disclosing the development to newsmen in Owerri, Chukwueke stated that the move was to remedy any mistakes that may have been made a view to consolidating the party’s recent gains in Imo State.
“It is very clear that a few mistakes were actually made during the party primaries in Imo State. Delegates list was compiled and sent to the state, but what is not clear is why the list did not surface, when it was supposed to, and even up to the point of accreditation,” he said.
According to him, the surge of new members and gubernatorial aspirants is one of the sources of crisis in Imo APGA and managing it would present a big problem, because most of the gubernatorial aspirants were from Owerri senatorial zone for which there was a sense of loss when none of them got the ticket.
Promising Nigerians of APGA preparedness to rise from the current crisis, get stronger and win elections, Chief Chukwueke reminded the aspirants that it was not enough to merely wish to get the party ticket, but a winner must work assiduously to get it.
“We are learning from this experience. We have the human infrastructure to sack Governor Rochas Okorocha and his acolytes from the Government House, Owerri. But we will do all it takes to win the general elections. Therefore, we appeal to all our aggrieved patriots to engage with us, in this national assignment,” he pleaded.
Meanwhile, the party’s flag bearer fro Imo State governorship election, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume has declared that APGA will take over the entire South-East geo-political zone in the forthcoming elections, hinting that they will leave no stone unturned to for a landslide victory.
