Unizik holds 45th Inaugural Lecture



APROFESSOR of Design and Production Systems, Department of Industrial and Production Engineering of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Christopher Ihueze has called on the federal government to fund the nation universities to promote their research endeavours.
Professor Ihueze who made the call while presenting the 45th inaugural lecture of the university, stressed that the proper investment in research will enhance the nation’s productive capacity.
According to the university don who titled his lecture “Wealth Creation a Decade of Design and Optimization” said the university is willing to assist the Anambra State government as well as partner with relevant industrial agencies to enhance wealth creation in the state.
Professor Ihueze announced that the university through the instrumentality of its Engineering department has developed some marketable industrial maters which will foster wealth creation for the institution.
In a remark, the Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Joseph Ahaneku thanked the inaugural lecturer for his efforts to bring the ivory tower to the limelight of industrialization and promised to identify with his noble aspirations.
Dean Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Professor Valeria Chinedu Nnodu appreciated the efforts of the inaugural lecturer for enlightening the university through industrialisation.
In related development, Dean Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the institution Professor Valerie Chinedu Nnodu has called on the citizenry to adopt environmental safety standards to make the environment more habitable.
Professor Nnodu who spoke on the challenges of the climate changes in recent times, expects residents living in flood prone areas to relocate to the upland to safeguard their lives and property.
The University Don warned people who built on drainage channels to desist from doing so and dismantle such structures for the free flow of flood.
She called for the desilting of rivers to minimize the high degree of over flooding in some parts of the country.
Professor Nnodu further expects the citizenry to adopt proper evacuation of refuse to make the environment more conducive for human habitation.
