Rotary, Indian doctors for free surgery, training in Awka
ROTARY International, District 9142 through the Rotary Foundation in partnership with a team of medical practitioners from India is billed to carry out a free medical mission in Awka, Anambra State capital.
Speaking to National Light newspaper in his Awka office, pioneer District Governor, Rotary International, District 9142, Emman Ude Akpeh said plans for the medical mission started in the last Rotary year and will commence on October 23 through November 3, adding that the mission which will take place at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka will also see the medical doctors carry out free trainings for doctors in the hospital.
“Plans started in the last Rotary year and I am happy to announce that it is finally coming to fruition. There will be 20 medical practitioners from various fields of medicine coming to Anambra State and this is first time a free medical mission of that magnitude will take place.”
He therefore urged ndi Anambra to avail themselves of the opportunity as the services will be free of all charges. “This is Rotary’s way of making ndi Anambra benefit from the good Rotary does the world over, it is also the first time we are holding this mission since inception of this district.”
Dr. Akpeh said the medical mission is open to people in the whole of District 9142 comprising Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
There will be free Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), Urology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Dental and general surgeries.
