PEOPLE of Ihebosi in Ekwusigo Local Government area of Anambra State have celebrated their annual 2018 New Yam Day
The occasion attracted both illustrious sons of the community and Guests, including Onyebuchi Ofor from Anambra State House of Assembly, Ikenna Ofodeme, chairman, EkwusigoLGA, Don Creff Odumegwu, Special Adviser to Governor Obiano on Community Liaison, Chief Sir Eze Martus Mbanu ,Ezeigbo in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, High Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, Ichie Ephraim Chukwndebelu, Sir I.G Nnubia, Afam Obi, former deputy speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly and others.
The president general, Ihebosi progress Assembly(I.P.A), Chika Dumije, in a message, urged his people to imbibe the spirit of think home philosophy and avoid depending on the government to do everything.
He said government would compliment every meaningful endeavor of any town .
He expressed joy at the level of brotherly love and cooperation that have arrived permanently in the town and thanked the people that made the day super.
The chairman of the occasion, Chief Cosmas Ojukwu described Ihebosi New Yam as a roll call of their illustrious sons and commended them for such respect which the town is known and admired.
In a related development, the Uke community in Idemili North Local Government Area has celebrated its new yam festival showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people.
Performing the “Iwa ji” festival and the third in his reign, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Charles Agbala, thanked God for a bountiful harvest.
Igwe Agballa showered blessings on his subjects and prayed for peace and sustained unity in his community.
The royal father commended Governor Willie Obiano for his good governance which includes providing adequate security and the enabling environment for entrepreneurs to flourish in the state.
Speaking during the occasion, the President General of the Uke community, Ikedi Obi, felicitated with Igwe Agballah on his third successful Iwa Ji ceremony and encouraged him to sustain his purposeful reign.
